Social impact
Cool City Cargo is founded on the belief that climate change is an existential threat to humanity, necessitating the development of more sustainable transportation methods for both people and goods. As a worker-owned cooperative, we empower our employees by giving them shares based on their monetary contribution and hours worked, ensuring that every employee has a stake in our success.
Local & fair production
XYZ CARGOs use a completely new way of building functional cycles with a focus on local production in a socially just and environmentally sustainable way.
We are committed to supporting our local community by building our cargo e-bikes in our Somerville workshop, rather than outsourcing production to other countries. We source our aluminum from the United States, which minimizes freight costs and reduce our CO2 impact.
Sustainability
Our cargo e-bikes are designed to emit zero emissions during use and have very low power requirements, as they rely significantly on pedal assistance. This means that most of the energy used is for moving the person and goods, not the vehicle itself, unlike vans or trucks.
XYZ CARGOs can easily be repaired and with proper maintenance of mechanical parts it can last a lifetime. For an effective recycling process, all parts can easily be separated into useful modular parts or basic raw materials again.
Community care
We follow a design system that has been successfully used in Denmark since the 1990s. In the future, we aim to collaborate with non-profits through grant funding, helping organizations with their transportation needs in a more sustainable way.
We engage with our community by offering workshops where customers can build their own bikes, fostering a hands-on, educational experience and promoting a deeper understanding of sustainable transportation solutions.
Ambition
The ambition that powers the development of XYZ CARGOs and XYZ SPACEFRAME VEHICLES exceeds the mere ambition of building bikes and trikes: We want to change the way we move things and persons, the way we produce things, the way we share and distribute things, the way we live. We want to contribute to creating a better and more fair world.
